We are a small independent amateur theatre, located in the centre of Nottingham. The Theatre is owned an operated by The Lace Market Theatre Trust Ltd., which is a registered charity.
The Theatre has a good reputation for its varied programme of modern and traditional drama, comedy and occasional musical, produced to a high standard by members of the trust.
All members of the public are welcome to come to our productions or to join us as active or supportive members. Our facilities include a 118 seat auditorium, a studio theatre space, and a licensed studio bar open every Monday to Saturday, 7.30pm-10.30pm (performance nights: 7pm to 11pm), and on Saturdays for Pub Grub from 12.15pm to 2pm. There is convenient parking nearby. Each evening, a Duty Officer is available to welcome visitors, offer tours of the building and to introduce you to members.
All our performances are open to the public.
Members of the public are welcome to join the theatre and take part in its activities, either on stage, backstage, or further behind the scenes. If you are interested in joining why not pop down to the theatre any weekday evening when we don't have a show on? There's always a duty officer on duty who can show you round and answer any questions you may have. If you're visiting the theatre to see a show and are interested in getting involved do join us for a drink afterwards in the bar and we'll be happy to show you around. New members are always welcome and there are plenty of ways to get involved - experience is certainly not necessary!
If you already know the theatre then you can download a membership application form in PDF format here. Please complete the form and then send it with your membership fee to the theatre, the address of which is on the form
Your application for membership will be subject to ratification by the board, once this has been done you can attend auditions and get involved in all areas of the theatre. There is no audition to join the theatre but you must be a member to audition for any show. Board meetings are held once a month and so your application could take up to a month to be processed depending on when it is submitted.
Youth Theatre
The
award winning Youth Theatre Group is open to anyone aged between 11 and 18. We run a busy
programme of activities including Drama Workshops every Saturday morning from
10.30am to 12.30pm, during term time. Workshops are aimed at giving practice
and guidance on performance skills and theatrical understanding through practical
activities, in a friendly social environment.
In addition to workshops, we also put on one major public production in the
theatre's main auditorium, and occasional one-off performances in the Studio
for parents and members. While we do not audition for entrance into the group,
we do audition for the major productions.
If you are interested in joining our energetic and imaginative group or auditioning
for the production, please contact the theatre on 0115 9507201 between 10.30
and 12.30 any Saturday morning or complete the contact form below.
