The Lace Market Theatre is an amatuer theatre staffed and run entirely by members in their free time. You are welcome to join the theatre and take part in its activities, either on stage, backstage, or further behind the scenes. If you are interested in joining why not pop down to the theatre any weekday evening when we don't have a show on (excluding August)? There's always a Duty Officer on duty who can show you round and answer any questions you may have. If you're visiting the theatre to see a show and are interested in getting involved do join us for a drink afterwards in the bar and we'll be happy to show you around. New members are always welcome and there are plenty of ways to get involved - experience is certainly not necessary! When you arrive at the theatre please go upstairs to the bar area as this is always the best place to find the Duty Officer!
From time to time we hold dedicated Intro Evenings where we will meet you in the bar before showing you around the theatre. Dates for the 2012/2013 season are:
September 4th, 13th and 25th October 23rd November 27th December 11th February 5th and 7th March 19th and 26th
All run from 7.45 PM
We will explain how to get involved, either working on a production or by helping with our varied and vital Front of House duties. Please don't feel you have to wait for one of the above Intro Evening dates, either come down to the theatre or email us and we'll arrange to meet you down there.
If you already know the theatre then you can download a membership application form in PDF format here. Please complete the form and then send it with your membership fee to the theatre, the address of which is on the form.
Your application for membership will be subject to ratification by the Board, once this has been done you can attend auditions and get involved in all areas of the theatre. There is no audition to join the theatre and you can audition for a part in a play without being a member, but you cannot be offered a part until you have joined. Your application could take up to a month to be processed but once you have paid the fee please assume full privileges of membership.
