Very much a fixture in the repertoire of British theatre since its first production in 1777, this famous comedy of gossip, slander, pleasure and wit amongst the idle classes has never failed to amuse audiences. With names such as Teazle, Surface, Sneerwell, Backbite, Snake and Careless we are very much in a satirical world of wit and folly, but at times are drawn into moments of human pain without these ever jarring the brilliant comedy.
